Opera Requires No Formula

Despite her unique path, the American mezzo-soprano is currently considered among the most interesting young voices. This month, she will be giving her first Preziosilla (La forza del destino) in Zurich, followed by Kasturbai in Glass’s Satyagraha at the Los Angeles Opera next season, Josefa in the Amsterdam reprise of Adams’ Girls of the Golden West and her Carmen debut in San Francisco.

It was by no means certain that she would be drawn to the opera. During school, J'NAI BRIDGES had other things in mind than Verdi or Puccini, Bizet or John Adams.
